The Election
The first election for a Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire will take place on Thursday 15 November 2012. The elected PCC will then take office on 22 November. The PCC for each force area will be elected for a term of four years.
The elections will be paid for by the Home Office and will not come from funds that would otherwise have gone to forces. The Electoral Commission will be responsible for providing guidance and setting out the process of the election. The electoral system used for electing the PCC will be a supplementary voting system. The Police Area Returning Officer who will manage the election process for Hampshire has been appointed.
