Ambassadors All Aboard ‘Tenacious’
Having been invited to learn more about the Jubilee Sailing Trust, over 60 Hampshire Ambassadors gathered on board the Trust’s tall ship, ‘Tenacious’, whilst she was docked in Southampton in May.
Ambassador Interview
Peter Barber, Partner at Solicitors Blake Lapthorn in Southampton first heard about the Hampshire Ambassadors through the Hampshire Economic Partnership 5 years ago and has been a member ever since.
PLATO: Sustain
Just launched: a brand new, free, fast-track business programme designed to help businesses cut costs and improve the bottom line by implementing eco-friendly practices. PLATO: Sustain is a unique programme based on the Plato peer learning group format which has been described as ‘an MBA without the books’. And, because it’s fully funded by the South East England Development Agency, the cost of £3,500.00 is completely waived.

Nineteen people are arrested every day in Britain because someone has contacted the charity Crimestoppers with information which they could not give directly to the police. Every four days there is an arrest for murder. In Hampshire four contacts a day provide valuable information which leads to at least four arrests a week and prevents four crimes a week from taking place. Without the support and active help of the Hampshire’s Business community, the figures would be less.
However there is still widespread ignorance about the charity’s work, trust in the process which provides anonymity for callers and on-line contacts and understanding of how rewards can be paid without the claimant’s identity being revealed. Businesses help to raise awareness through their staff and clients as well as looking to their own security – particularly as the recession fuels fraud and acquisitive crime.
Crimestoppers can also offer its Integrity Line which uses the charity’s ethos and brand strength. Amongst current clients are a number of clearing banks, the Jockey Club and FACT - the Federation Again Copyright Theft – as well as a dozen police forces.
